Meeting with us

The following is a list of things you should bring with you when meeting with us for the first time.  If you have any questions, feel free to contact us by phone or email. 

General Items

If it’s your first year with us, bring a copy of last year’s tax return and copies of social security cards for everyone claimed on the return.


Dates of birth for taxpayer, spouse and children.


Labels, envelopes and forms from taxing authorities.


W-2 forms, 1099’s and any other statements of income such as;


Interest, Dividend and/or Capital Gains Income


Business or Rental Income


IRA, Pension/retirement income


Unemployment Compensation


Social Security Income


Lottery or Gambling winnings


Cancellation of Debt notices

Common Adjustments and Credits


IRA Contributions


Student Loan Interest


Did you buy a Hybrid Vehicle?


Pay any Tuition for yourself or a dependent?


Are you a Teacher?


Pay for Child Care or Senior Care?


Did you move this year?


Did you put in a new furnace, insulation or other energy saving improvements?


Do you Pay Alimony to anyone?



Common Personal Deductions

Medical Expenses:


Medical Insurance premiums that YOU paid - health, vision, dental, cancer insurance policies


Doctors, Dentist, Hospitals, Co-Pays, Deductibles paid during year




Med. Supplies & Equipment - Eyeglasses, Dentures, Crutches, Hearing Aides, etc.


Long Term Care Premiums


Mileage back and forth to the doctor, dentist, etc.


Parking for Doctor, dentist, etc.





Property Taxes - your home, camp, land, etc. PAID during the year


Sales Taxes - Did you buy a vehicle or make any large purchases (more than $5,000)?


Personal Property Tax





Mortgage Interest - all mortgages & home equity loans


(if you paid one off during the year make sure you get the interest paid on that one too)


Points paid on the purchase of a home (bring the settlement sheet)


Investment Interest paid



Charitable Contributions


Checks and cash paid to registered charities & churches (you must have documentation)


"Other than Cash" - clothing and furniture donated


(you MUST have an appraisal for all donations made after 8/17/06)



Casualty & Theft Losses


Any Fire or Theft Losses of more than $1,000 that were not covered by insurance?
